California requires most personal injury lawsuits to be filed within two years of the date of injury, under California Code of Civil Procedure Section 335.1. Claims involving a public entity are different and much shorter, often requiring a formal administrative claim within six months, which covers collisions with city vehicles and AC Transit buses as well as injuries caused by dangerous public property. If any public agency might be involved, do not wait.

Where an Alameda County Case Is Heard
Civil cases in Alameda County are heard at the René C. Davidson Courthouse at 1225 Fallon Street, on the Lake Merritt side of downtown Oakland. Our office at 1423 Broadway is about half a mile from it, roughly a ten-minute walk.
That proximity is a convenience rather than a credential, and we would rather be straight with you about which is which. What actually determines where your case is filed is where the collision happened and where the defendant is located, not where your lawyer's office sits. But if your case does end up in Alameda County Superior Court, you will not be traveling far, and neither will we.
About the Attorney Handling Your Case
David Kashani worked in personal injury firms for several years before law school, then began his legal career as a securities and compliance lawyer, representing the institutional side. He left it for injury law, partly because he found he would rather represent people, and partly because he lost someone close to him in an accident. He opened this firm to represent individuals and families harmed by someone else's negligence, and he takes every client's case personally, as though a member of his own family had been injured. His practice has recovered millions of dollars for injured clients.
Those years on the compliance side are part of why the firm is comfortable across the table from large insurers. He is admitted in five states, California, New York, Massachusetts, Washington, and Arizona, earned his Bachelor of Arts at the University of California, Los Angeles and his law degree at Whittier Law School, and belongs to the American Association for Justice and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles.
